ABOUT ENBY MEANING® MEDIA

Enby Meaning® is an enbyqueer media publication: independent, community-rooted, and now one year in.

We make content by and for nonbinary people. Not content that asks for tolerance. Content that assumes you know who you are or that you're figuring it out on your own terms, and meets you there.

Our coverage spans identity and expression, relationships and intimacy, community, wellbeing, and the culture enbyqueers are actively building. We take the work seriously. We take our readers seriously.

WHO’S BEHIND THIS

Enby Meaning® is a small, distributed team of gender diverse creators and contributors working remotely across the globe.

You won't find our names or photos on this site right now, and we want to be honest about why.

The people behind this publication live under the same pressures we write about: employer scrutiny, economic precarity, political exposure, and the very real personal risks that come with being visibly nonbinary in public life. For many of us, attaching our identities to this work isn't something we can do safely yet. Not because we're ashamed of it (we're not!), but because the conditions that would make it safe don't yet exist for all of us.

Visibility is the goal. Safety is the prerequisite. The world Enby Meaning® is trying to help build is one where that calculus changes. We're not there yet.

When we have the resources to employ our contributors full-time, when the team no longer has to weigh this work against income from employers who may not share our values, when we can build something stable enough to protect the people in it, the names and faces will follow. That's not a deflection. It's a commitment with honest conditions attached.

In the meantime, we are real. We are nonbinary. This publication is made by the community it serves.

OUR VISION

To amplify non-binary voices by creating content that celebrates gender diverse identities and builds a sense of community.

We are dedicated to challenging societal norms, promoting self-expression, and fostering a media environment where non-binary individuals feel seen, valued, and authentically represented.

To reshape the media landscape by centring non-binary voices and ensuring they are integral to mainstream narratives. We envision a world where non-binary and queer individuals are visible, valued, and celebrated for their authentic selves, driving positive social change and challenging societal norms.

ONE YEAR IN

Enby Meaning® Media launched on 12 March 2025. In our first year, we've built a content library spanning 100+ articles, grown a newsletter readership, and established ourselves as one of the few publications in the world treating nonbinary and gender-diverse audiences as a primary readership not an afterthought.

We're still small. We're still growing. We think that's worth saying plainly, because honesty about where we are is part of how we build trust with the people who read us.
