ABOUT US
-
Enby Meaning® is an independent enbyqueer media publication, now in its second year. We're a small, distributed team of gender-diverse creators and contributors working remotely across the globe. Our full story is on our About page.
-
Yes. Unambiguously. Enby Meaning is made by and for nonbinary people; that's not a brand position, it's the whole point.
We know the lack of visible bylines, names, and photos raises this question, and we want to answer it honestly. The people behind this publication live under the same pressures we write about: employer scrutiny, economic precarity, political exposure, and the real personal risks that come with being visibly nonbinary in public life. For many of us, attaching our identities to this work isn't something we can do safely yet.
Visibility is the goal. Safety is the prerequisite. Our About page explains this in full.
-
Yes, in specific parts of our workflow, and we're transparent about what that means.
We use AI for research, editing, SEO, search optimisation, and site infrastructure. We do not use AI to generate published editorial content. Every article, guide, and piece of commentary on this site is written and edited by human contributors.
We're not uncritical of these tools. We know their track record with queer and nonbinary communities is poor, and we take the environmental concerns seriously. We also operate in a landscape where algorithmic systems govern visibility, whether or not we engage with them, and a small independent queer publication cannot opt out of those systems and expect to survive. Our Disclosures page goes into detail about our position and why we've made the choices we've made.
-
Yes. Our entire reason for existing is grounded in queer safety, inclusion, and community. We actively moderate to maintain a space free from hate, bigotry, and erasure.
